Saturday I had a baby shower for my friend LaNae at our house. Dean didn't have to go into work until 3 so he took Camden to see Cars 2 and Carson took a nap while we enjoyed the party. They returned home after the party. Emily stuck around to help clean up. At about 2:30 Dean was racing to the kitchen to grab his phone before walking out the door Camden was trailing behind him trying to keep up. He didn't want his daddy to go to work. Camden reached up and grabbed Dean's pant leg right as Dean was turning to go into the kitchen. Camden lost his footing and fell right onto the corner of the wall. Dean turned to love him better and put his hand on where he saw that he bumped it not knowing the extent of the damage. Emily was standing there and pointed out that he was bleeding pretty bad. For those of you that don't know, head injuries bleed more that others. After examining the injury Dean said we need to go to the hospital. Camden freaked out and started screaming more. He did not want to go to the hospital. He wanted to stay home and play with his toys. We told him we wouldn't be there for long and the doctors needed to fix his head. Dean held him in the car so he could keep the washcloth pressed to Camden's head to help with the bleeding. I drove and Emily so graciously volunteered to stay and watch Carson for us.
Camden was freaking out and didn't want them to take his blood pressure and temperature. They had to give me his hospital band because he didn't want anyone to touch him.
We were put in a hospital room and I sat on the bed and held him. I had him take deep breaths and he finally calmed down. He laid there holding me and fell asleep for a little bit. The Doctor came in to look at it and check his vitals and he stay asleep though that part. He woke up and they put some numbing cream on his head. The nurse came in a talked to him and took him by the had to pick out a teddy bear and a coloring book. He was so excited to get a little green bear. He came back and waited with us and held his bear and I read to him the story in the coloring book about a little bear that had to go to the hospital. The doctor came in and said they could either sedate him or we could hold him for the stitches. We opted for the holding him. I told Camden that we were gonna have to wrap him up like a mummy so he couldn't move while the dr fixed his head. He said no, I can hold really still. I can do "freeze-ray" like in Despicable Me. He showed us how good he was at holding still.
The doctor came in and showed him the syringe with the cup on it he was going to use to clean out his owie. The doctor showed Camden how it worked by spraying the nurse across the hall that was sitting behind the desk. He told him if he was good he could take it home to play with.
Camden laid on the bed with us sitting next to him. He did so good! He didn't want us to hold him and got upset when we tried to. The doctor got 3 stitches put in and when he was about to start the 4th Camden decided that he was done. The doctor said that it would be fine with just the 3 stitches. He did them further apart and deeper so it would hold better. Camden thought it was pretty cool that the doctor gave him a little hair cut. It is a good thing he has long hair that can cover his head. We have to wait 24 hours before we can get water on it and wash it so he had to go to church today with a little bit of blood matted in his hair.
